Creator Belinda A. Loveland

As an attorney, Belinda focused her practice on abused and neglected children. She was known to not only represent these children, but to spend her weekends and holidays taking them to amusement parks and other forms of entertainment that they would not otherwise be able to experience. As a Rowlett Municipal Judge, Belinda saw an influx in juvenile offenses in 2003 and created R.O.C.K. (Reaching Our Community’s Kids) to which she devoted much of her time. R.O.C.K. is an after-school mentoring program for underprivileged youth and those at risk of dropping out of school or being involved in juvenile crimes. The R.O.C.K. motto is “Choice, not chance, determines one’s destiny.” The experiences gained by the young boys and girls affect their lives and are reflected in their daily interactions with others. Judge Loveland was able to foster awareness regarding the needs of children and the roles that community members can play in promoting the health and welfare of children. Her efforts in the program were instrumental in its success. Tragically, Belinda passed away on June 20, 2010.  The R.O.C.K. program was subsequently made an official non-profit organization in her honor.  While she may never be replaced, our goal is to continue her dreams of making a difference in every child's life.
