"One afternoon when the kids at Coyle Middle School were leaving, Belinda came to see me (I was the principal then). "I want to start an after-school program for at-risk kids here. It won't cost you any money, your teachers will be asked only to refer kids, and I will provide everything - volunteers, supplies, snacks,... everything. All I need is a room. Will you allow me to start this program at Coyle?" What an amazing gift for the kids of our community! At the end of the first summer camp, the kids left with great attitudes, a sense of self-worth, and a bicycle for each kid! Thank you, Judge, for caring about the kids of this community." - Dretha Burris (past principal of Coyle Middle School)

"Each time that I volunteered to help Belinda with the after school kids I was so touched by how much each child loved Belinda.  She was like their second Mom.  I could see the love, respect and most of all the TRUST they each had for her.  For the first time in their lives, several of them really felt cared for and they knew that if they needed any kind of help Belinda would be there.  Being elected Judge of the 203rd Criminal District Court is consuming my energy and time, but not so much that I cannot be there for ROCK, which is Belinda's spirit at work.  I would like to be called on to help if I can with any child who is struggling in school and needs some extra one on one time. I can donate at least one afternoon a week and one Saturday a month when needed.  Just let me know.  Also along the way I will try to get other attorneys to do the same, especially single attorneys with no children." -Judge Teresa Hawthorne (203rd Ciminal District Court-Dallas)

Hadassha McGrew describes her experience at ROCK was like "40 lost sheep looking for a Shepard and I got to be that Shepard. Mentoring allowed me to share my life's struggles and frustrations to benefit others. Seeing the kids now, I get emotional knowing that I made a difference and a positive lasting impression. It was my chance to give back; an opportunity for me to empower them to believe in themselves."

"Participation as a mentor in ROCK helped me realize that as older people have had an influence on my life, I have the same ability to make a positive influence on a younger person.  Being a mentor in ROCK gave me leadership confidence and I know now that I can change the lives of others."
-Megan Crockett

"My daughter attended Rowlett High School and ended up being given a ticket. This judge 3 years ago told my daughter that she was much to smart to be in her court room and that if she ever saw her again she would not be very nice. I want her to know that she changed my daughters life, she gave me such a warm feeling while I was standing in front of her. She cared about the kids no matter what race , or color. She just wanted better for all the kids that were troubled kids. Because of you Judge Loveland my daughter graduated and is on her way to becoming a teacher. Thank You, Thank God for lending you to us for such a short time...Job well done." -Donna Young

"My involovement with ROCK was mostly as a volunteer.  I was a judge at the Talent Show organized by Belinda for her ROCK Program. It was remarkable to see all kids from different walks of life and all ages participating in the talent show being able to be creative with there own talents.  The participants were encouraged by all to be able to perform what they felt good at doing.  It was a lot of fun. Also, when she [Belinda Loveland] took the girls to the Gaylord Texan Hotel in Grapevine for the weekend, where they could expereince a stay in a nice hotel getting pampered, which was something they never expereienced.  These were girls from foster homes, usually older girls that someone more or less did not want.  They always had a lot of fun and were ever so appreciative." -Doris Janecek
